The charity run for Help Kids Like Nick was a huge success on Saturday the 26thApril with all runners digging deep to achieve their goals. The fun run was held to support Help Kids Like Nick, a charity to support kids with Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome and their families.
The popular fun run is now in its second year and attracted 240 athletes registered in events which included the marathon, half marathon, half marathon walk, 10km run/walk, 5km run/walk and the family 3km roll and stroll.
Tom Strachan, CEO of AWX, Tom’s sister Helen and Derek Irwin, Director of HealthX, headed out to Yuleba with their swags on Saturday to participate in the event. Tom completed the marathon coming in at 3rd place. Heather Smith one of the organisers of the event said every competitor in each event did so well to complete the course and everyone was thrilled they made the effort, despite the hills and headwind.
This year’s event attracted more competitors than last year’s run and it’s fantastic to see such a great event grow. Alison Blacket, mother of Nick thanked everyone involved in the fun run, from competitors to volunteers and sponsors, for their support. ‘We hope to raise at least $25 000 this year which will be greatly appreciated by families with Wolf Hirschhorn”
