HealthX Story

Discovering health services were either non-existent or delivered at unworkable costs in rural and regional Australia, Thomas Strachan was motivated to commit his resources within the AWX group to commence the HealthX division.

HealthX is a division of the larger entity AWX – a privately owned Australian company supporting Australian businesses, solving short and long term staffing requirements.

Through its 10 year history, AWX has thrived because of a young and vibrant culture with an attitude built from an ingrained Australian bush ethos, resourcefulness and strong core values.

“ With the growing resource of skilled and highly experienced nursing staff, HealthX is now delivering a unique model resulting in real solutions: long term, cost effective, safe and sustainable. ”

The founder and CEO, Thomas Strachan, originated from western Queensland and spent most of his adult years working across rural Australia before founding AWX. Thomas has a passion and heartfelt connection to rural Australia.

Thomas thought the provision of health services to the bush was bad nearly 20 years ago. He recalls the story of falling off a horse; apart from having to wait a week for the doctor and nurses to come to town, he also had to assist the local gardener to read the instruction book so the two of them could take the required x-rays!!! He obviously lived to tell the tale, but…

In creating and driving AWX across Australia, Thomas again had the advantage of visiting regional, rural and remote parts of this great country, as he calls it. It was in 2007, when visiting Longreach in western Queensland on a project to assist with an Indigenous youth program, that Thomas discovered that over the years, health services had not improved, but was in fact, on the dawn of facing some enormous challenges!

Discovering health services were either non-existent or delivered at unworkable costs, Thomas was motivated to commit his resources within the AWX group to commence the HealthX division. There is a passionate commitment toward delivering health services to regional, rural and remote Australia. Thomas had set the first mission: to solve the nursing distribution and skills shortage across regional and rural Australia.

Since declaring this mission, the HealthX division has established footprints in Europe to help attract appropriately experienced nurses within specialist areas and especially aged care. With the growing resource of skilled and highly experienced nursing staff, HealthX is now delivering a unique model resulting in real solutions: long term, cost effective, safe and sustainable.
